worked great while it lasted--no one can actually go "against" the system, but

Perhaps 1/month I'll find a situation where it's not
giving me adequate results, so I'll clech my teeth
and head over to The G**gle. But 99 or so percent
of the time DDG is it.

I have heard bad things about DDG. I still use it sometimes, but their
results seems to be prioritized for profit like google. I find much
better results with https://searx.be/search and https://yandex.com/.
Yandex is Russian however and sometimes it requires a capta that goes
around and around in circles, never allowing you to get through.

One hears "bad things" about everything and everybody on the Internet.

I've used DuckDuckGo and Startpage for years with no problem. I never
go near Gooogle or Yahoo's search engines.
