"A report by German news magazine program Panorama and YouTube
investigative journalism channel STRG_F claims that the German
Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and the Public Prosecutor
General's Office in Frankfurt am Main were able to identify at least
one Tor user after carrying out network surveillance."
A German magazine and a Youtube "investigative" channel CLAIMS, etc.
Yeah, these are top sources of information. Right?
This bullshit of trying to stop the usage of Tor has been going on
for years. It's BULLSHIT!
It's easy enough to identify someone using Tor if you're a networker.
Isolating the identification to where they are going and what they are
doing is another matter. People are very careless about security and
exercising good judgement.
For example, many use Tor browser to go places on the Internet. There
are a few things Tor browser won't do by design, so the user decides to
use Tor browser as a SOCKS proxy and configures another browser to use
it. That's a mistake that can leak a lot of damaging info, among them
the local IP address and possibly the public IP of their internet
connection.
Tor is safe and secure when used properly.
I follow to the letter the Tor page's warning about screwing with the
settings or adding apps, etc.
I'm not one planning treason, murder or any mulit-million dollar fraud,
so I feel Tor is fine enough to keep the greedy hounds of Internet
Business and nosey Web sites out of my private life.
The average Joe can go crazy trying for the ultimate in security and
privacy. I stay away from Google, Yahoo and such. If I'm going to do a
search and wish to keep private who I am, I use QSL with Tor.
Do I use Facebook? You're kidding, right?
