It seems from the email I just received that Kucoin is no longer servicing U.S. citizens.

Dear KuCoin Users,

Due to legal and regulatory requirements in the US, please kindly note the services of your account might be restricted.

If you are not a US resident, please verify your identity information through [https://www.kucoin.com/account/kyc] before 0:00 (UTC-5) September 19, 2024, otherwise the trading services of your account will be restricted.

If you are a US resident, please withdraw your assets before 0:00 (UTC-5) December 17, 2024.

Please be cautious of suspicious links and any asset transfers that are not properly verified. Trust official communication channels only.

For New York state residents, please follow the platform’s previous notice regarding New York state. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused.

We appreciate your cooperation and continued support of KuCoin platform

If they serve U.S. residents, that puts them firmly under the purview of U.S.
regulators -- looks like KuCoin have decided (likely with good reason) that
U.S. residents' business isn't worth the regulatory hassle they bring with
them.

American regulators tend to prosecute and extradite people who, in their
sole opinion, have violated U.S. securities laws/regulations. Can't say I
blame 'em, for dropping American customers. In their place, I would.

I use the Micelium wallet. It keeps your bitcoins locally on the
wallet itself. I got fed up with all the 'Know your customer'
requirements the government now requires to join any exchange. Picture
of your drivers license, actual picture of yourself. A picture of your
drivers license is the first step to identity theft. I also buy my
bitcoin from one of the 17000 bitcoin vendor machines around the U.S.

They are trying to control it so they can track and tax it.
